Recently, conservative reactionaries used one of their favorite tactics — Shouting insults, portentously, from high up in the Twitter Birds Tree; instead of talking about the merits of a program that would insure every single American, they decided to just whack a huge price tag on Medicare for all to try and scare people away from supporting it.
So sure of it’s conclusion jumping one bombastic group sponsored a study to prove Medicare for all would be too expensive for our country.
Unfortunately, it backfired.
What the study did was show that Medicare for all would actually save the American people $2 trillion over 10 years. And it would do so while providing health care for 30 million Americans who don’t have it today and eliminating premiums, deductibles and co-payments to private health insurance companies.
The midterm elections, and the next Congress, could play a huge role in the program’s future. Will it be strengthened; or face funding shortfalls and benefit cuts.
Don’t get distracted by the endless salvo of insults.
Medicare for All will give nearly 30 million Americans health insurance, overwhelmingly benefiting those living in poverty.
