Donald Trump’s top stooge in the Senate, let it slip the other day — what Republicans will do if they maintain control of the House and Senate:
They will go after America’s safety-net benefits: Medicare, Social Security and Medicaid.
“It’s disappointing but it’s not a Republican problem,” [Mitch] McConnell said in an interview with Bloomberg News when asked about the rising deficits and debt. “It’s a bipartisan problem: Unwillingness to address the real drivers of the debt by doing anything to adjust those programs to the demographics of America in the future.”
McConnell’s remarks came a day after the Treasury Department said the U.S. budget deficit grew to $779 billion in Donald Trump’s first full fiscal year as president, the result of the GOP’s tax cuts, bipartisan spending increases and rising interest payments on the national debt. That’s a 77 percent increase from the $439 billion deficit in fiscal 2015, when McConnell became majority leader.
McConnell said it would be “very difficult to do entitlement reform, and we’re talking about Medicare, Social Security and Medicaid,” with one party in charge of Congress and the White House.
[...]
“I think it would be safe to say that the single biggest disappointment of my time in Congress has been our failure to address the entitlement issue, and it’s a shame, because now the Democrats are promising Medicare for all,” he said.

You can bet your bottom dollar that Republicans will cut your “earned benefits” America — benefits that most of us have spent a lifetime of paycheck-deductions, funding.
That is their dirty little secret. One they don’t talk about much. Because they know that that idea won’t win them many voters — unlike the fear and smear tactics that they are more at home with squawking about.
It was really sloppy of Mitch the Henchman to let it slip, when he was bemoaning what the GOP Tax Cuts for the Wealthy, ended up doing to the U.S. National Debt. Notice how the GOP never mentions “how great their Tax Cuts are” anymore — now that their wealth re-distribution damage has been done?
Well here’s another dirty secret, that they don’t want to become common knowledge either:
You earned those Benefits America. They’re yours — you EARNED them.
There should be in a Lock-box or something, safe and secure from the worthless IOUs that the Congress is all too willing to write for them. And all too willing to never pay back, either.
They think were idiots or something. That we don’t know what those FICA and Medicare Tax deductions on each and every pay-check are for. Well here’s a brief reminder:
An employer's federal payroll tax responsibilities include withholding from an employee's compensation and paying an employer's contribution for Social Security and Medicare taxes under the Federal Insurance Contributions Act (FICA).
Employers have numerous payroll tax withholding and payment obligations. Of the utmost importance is the proper payment of what are commonly known as FICA taxes. FICA taxes are somewhat unique in that there is required withholding from an employee's wages as well as an employer's portion of the taxes that must be paid.
The Federal Insurance Contributions Act (FICA) is the federal law that requires you to withhold three separate taxes from the wages you pay your employees. FICA is comprised of the following taxes:
- 6.2 percent Social Security tax;
- 1.45 percent Medicare tax (the “regular” Medicare tax); and
- Since 2013, a 0.9 percent Medicare surtax when the employee earns over $200,000.
You must withhold these amounts from an employee's wages.
[...]
Notice the first TWO WORDS of the FICA abbreviation:
Federal Insurance
It’s not an “entitlement” — it’s an INSURANCE program — that we’ve already paid for.
This is what McConnell and his mindless band of Tax-cutters want to take away from Americans.
Your ability to receive the Benefits you’ve already earned.
The Benefits you were promised. The Benefits you already paid into.
The Benefits that previous Administrations have borrowed from to pay-for their unfunded Wars.

...
This the dirty little secret that the GOP doesn’t want you to contemplate as you choose between Party Candidates in the next few weeks.
But as the hatchet-man of the Senate recently let slip, from his own two-sided mouth:
that the single biggest disappointment of my time in Congress has been our failure to address the entitlement issue
and in his next weaselly breath, he condemns the efforts of the more progressive in the Democratic Party — to actually HELP THE AMERICAN PEOPLE — ALL the People:
— and it’s a shame, because now the Democrats are promising Medicare for all.
And that is a bad thing, because ???
Because only the wealthy should get Health Care ??? It’s what’s on the Trump Agenda.
Someone really needs to “repeal and replace” these lying and duplicitous butlers of the Top 1 percent
— otherwise known as the Trump-Enablers Party.
— The Party who thinks they are “entitled to” mess with your retirement Benefits.
You know, the same Party who needs to be “shown the door” in November.
