Last Friday night North Dakotans saw their US Senate candidates, Heidi Heitkamp and Kevin Cramer go at it in the final debate of the campaign. Heitkamp was on fire and watching her in the debate, it’s hard to write her off, regardless of recent polls. Watch this clip in which she sets out clearly where Cramer, the State’s only House member, has been in the health care debate: consistent votes to repeal the ACA with no replacement in sight; and what repeal would mean to North Dakotans.
But it was on trade that she really let loose. “If you want to represent North Dakota, you’d better stand with North Dakota farmers, “ she insisted, noting that Trump’s trade policies are hurting North Dakota’s farmers and threatening the very life of the nation’s agricultural economy.
Heitkamp learned campaigning from former ND Senators Dorgan and Conrad, and she follows their rulebook to a T: nonstop campaigning, shaking every hand she can reach, never missing a county fair or small town parade, listening and learning what is on the minds of her constituents and speaking clearly and directly to the issues that matter to North Dakotans.
On Thursday, Nov 1, VP Joe Biden will kick off her final push with a rally in Fargo. Heitkamp then embarks of a five-day, 2,000 mile, 18-town trip around the State — the Heidi Brings it Home Bus Tour. Let’s all cheer her on her way. Maybe we’ll win the Senate after all.
UPDATE: If you haven’t yet given to Heidi’s campaign and would like to help get her over the top, here are some links, thanks to a comment from Kluger2:

Other excellent Sunday morning news: The Bismarck Tribune, a thoroughly Republican rag, endorsed Heidi, noting Cramer’s pride in being with Trump 100% of the time — even on these devastating tariffs and on health care votes that threaten protection for pre-existing conditions. They praised Heidi’s hard work and cross-the-aisle coalition building. Here’s their closer:
Cramer gives us no reason to believe that he will put the needs of North Dakotans over his loyalty to the president. Heitkamp has made it clear in word and deed that she does, and will continue to do so. For that reason the Tribune Editorial Board is endorsing Heitkamp for a second term.
