Without belaboring the issue: The Republicans have gone downhill in the last quarter century. Like him or not, George H.W. Bush was a class act who represented the Presidency as it was meant to be portrayed.
Donald J. Trump is the antithesis of that: using the Presidency for personal gain, and surrounding himself with sycophants with no morals or ethics. He wants no less than an autocracy to enrich himself and his power, public be damned.
As to the future of the Republican Party, it can be determined by one simple act: Will Donald Trump be invited to the funeral? It’s well known that there is no love lost between Trump and the Bushes. What will they signal?
Yes means that they accept the new, biased, exclusive Republican Party. No means they need different leadership, and the likes of Donald Trump are not acceptable. Think about it. More than you know, the Republican, the two-party system and America’s future may be riding on it.
