The Star Ledger (New Jersey’s most widely read newspaper) helped boost Chris Christie into office and helped boost the Tea Party and gives pro-lifers entirely too much space.
Now they seem to be gunning for newly installed NJ Governor Phil Murphy, a Democrat.
Or is he shooting himself in the foot ?
Today’s front page (2/21/2018) ran a two column headline:
It’s a man’s world? Not in Murphy’s Cabinet
Subhead: Governor nominates mostly women for posts, calls that a first for the state
Personally I have no problems with that . But I can think of a whole huge slice of the electorate that’s going to be pissed off. The right way to go is even-steven. Women should be equal. But not superior. That is swinging the pendulum too far from where it should be. Which is perpendicular with respect to the ground.

Yesterday’ s main front page headline (2/20/2018) was okay and progressive. though might be an overstatement of what Murphy really intends. It ran as follows:
BREAKING THE MOLD: With a central role guiding the governor’s policy, Tammy Murphy wields power as N.J.’s first lady
and then later “Some political insiders privately refer to her as ‘co-governor’.”
This strikes me as slightly thin ice. Is fine to say the wife has major influence, is a big input. But to call her “co-governor” is….in my very humble opinion… a bridge too far
