With his pocket constitution in tow, United States Senator Pat Toomey joined the insane conservation impeaching the Pennsylvania Supreme Court Justices who decided to end partisan gerrymandering in the Commonwealth. The PA Supreme Court ruled last month that Pennsylvania’s extremely gerrymandered congressional maps were unconstitutional and that legislative leaders had until last week to submit their maps to the Cour, or the Court would issue new maps.
The Court issued the new and fair maps, but this has lead to an outcry from PA Republicans. Pat Toomey held a press conference in Harrisburg this morning to wag his pocket constitution at the Court. He started the press conference saying that "the PA Supreme Court has engaged in a really amazing, highly partisan, unconstitutional power grab."
He then ended the press conference by saying that the conversation on impeaching the four Supreme Court justices who voted for the news is a “conversation that has to happen.” Conservative House Republican Chris Dush began this conversation in the beginning of February when he announced that he was going to circulate a cosponsor memo seeking to impeach 4 of the 7 justices. Republican leaders are looking for an emergency stay from the Supreme Court of the United States and may take action in the US Middle District Federal Court.
