CNN had a Town Hall tonight where Parkland survivors could question Florida elected officials, including Senators Rubio and Nelson and Congressman Deutsch. I will say this (and only this) for Rubio — Unlike grotesquely evil Governor Rick Scott, he had the balls to show up.
But when Cameron asked the critical question the Parkland students, faculty, parents and all of us want to know:
Can you tell us, right now, that you will not accept a single donation from the NRA
Marco Rubio folded like a cheap suit (Link to Video). He dodged, he weaved, he pulled out one of his patented repetitive nonsense mantras about “people vying for my agenda” three or more times (reprising his gruesome debate repetition of ““Let's dispel with this fiction that Barack Obama doesn't know what he's doing”).*
Unlike almost every TV host or pundit, Cameron would not let the squirming Rubio get away with avoiding the question. He pressed on until he pinned #BloodyMarco down, forcing him to admit he would keep accepting money from the NRA; he would keep adding to the more than $3 million he already has received from the NRA.
It was an electric moment, and I give CNN credit for allowing it.
There were other effective moments, and Congressman Deutsch was excellent.
NRA spokesgoblin Dana Loesch appeared after the officials and, from what I saw, got away with repeatedly talking about how the Parkland shooter (“monster” was her mantra) should never have gotten a gun, and attacking law enforcement, including the FBI.
But Cameron, like his classmates under vicious and continuous assault from not just the Alex Jones types, but former Congressmen appearing on the same CNN, persisted and (we hope) killed Rubio’s political career.
Earlier today, Cameron had this comment for the loonies saying he’s an actor:
"If you had seen me in our school production of Fiddler on the Roof, you would know that no one would pay me for acting."
Like so many of his classmates, Cameron is thoroughly and completely badass.
UPDATE:
Cameron shows his strength of character (and sense of humor) once again in a tweet last night:

Thank you all for watching the Comedy Central Roast of the NRA and the coming out party for my ADHD.
PS thank you @marcorubio for showing up to that like a champ. A+ dude, and not just from the @NRA
The kid gives kudos to Rubio, even after exposing Rubio’s venality. He and his classmates are the mensches we are missing among adult politicians and journalists today.
*I refuse to name or give any credit to the other candidate who called this out in the debate. Let’s just call him “Tunnel Assassin.”
