From CNN (by way of Huffington Post):
When confronted with a simple yes/no question from Manu Raju, Devin Nunes responded in a way that can only restore our faith in irony - intentional or otherwise.
"Did the White House have any role in the memo, sir?" asked CNN's Manu Raju on Tuesday.
Nunes quickly walked away from Raju and the other reporters.
"Democracy dies in darkness, my friend," was all he would say.
"Democracy dies in darkness" is, of course, the slogan of the Washington Post, possibly first uttered by Post paragon Bob Woodward. Though it's provenance is tied specifically to the Post, it represents a deeper truth about the role of a free press and investigative reporting in a democratic society, a role that Nunes (very much unironically) does not respect.
Apparently, by Nunes' Trumpian logic, not talking to reporters is how you get to the truth.
