I found myself inspired today by xaxnar’s A Few Thoughts on Evangelical Trumpers: Why They See No Contradiction, and I especially liked the Update that gave us a new phrase to play with: “Pornagain Christians.”
I love it! (And IonGirl saw that it was good...and she hopes it catches on!)
As an aficionado/a of all things written language and the genesis of new words, I tossed in my own addition to the mix via comment: Pornvangelical. I will be using it on a sign for an upcoming march I attend on March 24th (I hope to see you in DC, those of you who are marching for student safety from gun violence), and hope it catches on as well.
I’ve got a real passion for labeling things as they really are, and to stop aiding and abetting those evangelicals who support the pussy-grabbing pornhead, i.e., pornvangelicals, by associating them with the category of “religion.”
Religion, as defined by Merriam-Webster:
(1) : the service and worship of God or the supernatural
(2) : commitment or devotion to religious faith or observance
Pornvangelicals are not religious, or religionists, at all. I am in disagreement as to how they are defined by Merriam-Webster:
a person adhering to a religion; especially : a religious zealot
In my opinion, they are agenda-ists, or agendists, if I am to call them as I see them. Urban Dictionary defines the word agendist rather well:
a term commonly used to refer to someone who is promoting a political, economic or social "agenda." This term in contermporary [sic] internet use has come to mean persons who support a political or social belief, addressed as an "agenda." It is similar in use to the term Kool-Aid drinker, originally popularized by talkshow host Bill O'Reilly.
In my dealings with agendists online — particularly those on facebook or in comments sections of various websites who are still trying to sway us into voting thug, my method of dealing with the pornvangelicals and other agendists is to simply type this response below their comments or articles:
^^^ Russian Troll/Fake Profile
Throwing the fake profile/Russian troll thing in their faces results in a win-win:
- If they are a Russian agendist trolling us all, they are called on it.
- If they are simply a stupid American Trump-enabling, pornvangelical, agendist Kool-Aid drinker, they are caught defending THAT SHIT.
And, oh, you should see some of the defenses I’ve encountered, the intensity (and time wasted) in insisting that, yes, they are “real” (and really stupid).
That said, I have a request: Please blanket those trolls paid by foreign powers, or even the just plain ol’ stupid Trump enabling American pornvangelicals with that simple response. They will fall all over themselves to prove they’re either:
1) Not a Russian agent or troll, or
2) That they are a REAL, very stupid American who votes against their own best interests, and, like the Russian agendists, wants you to do the same.
You’ll put them on the defensive and be wasting their time, instead of the other way around. The Russian agendists may get some overtime pay (not), and the Americans, well, suckers. Either way, they are disarmed as the agendists they are.
Resist on,
IonGirl
