“The language used by Samantha Bee last night is vile and vicious. The collective silence by the left and its media allies is appalling,” Sanders told TheWrap...“Her disgusting comments and show are not fit for broadcast, and executives at Time Warner and TBS must demonstrate that such explicit profanity about female members of this administration will not be condoned on its network.”
The previous statement was put out by Don the Con’s Propaganda Minister Press Secretary after it came out that Samantha Bee used the “C” word on her show Full Frontal to describe Ivanka Trumps indifference to the plight of child immigrants separated by the RSHA ICE from their parents at the border. Ms. Bee (and TBS) have since apologized and pulled the segment. Samantha Bee stated in her apology that she “had crossed the line”.
This was done a few days after Roseanne Barr’s TV show was canceled (to include pulling episodes from the original series) when she tweeted a racist/Islamophobic “joke” about former Obama Advisor Valerie Jarret. Ms. Barr also apologized, and then promptly blamed the drug Ambien for her actions (Ambien put out a statement that racism is not a side effect of the drug).
Normally I would ignore anything put out by the huckster and his lackeys but being a liberal/progressive I am fair (a character defect but it helps me sleep at night). I asked myself is it right to compare Ms. Barr’s Comments with Ms. Bee's. And after much thought I can say IT IS NOT. The false comparison is a text book example of WhatAboutism (Ironically first used by the old Soviet Union) AKA the Balance fallacy.
The balance fallacy is an informal logical fallacy that occurs when two sides of an argument are assumed to have equal or comparable value regardless of their respective merits, which (in turn) can lead to the conclusion that the answer to a problem is always to be found between two extremes.
Samantha Bee’s use of this particular expletive was a decision by her and the station TBS to highlight a ruthless and inhuman policy of the Trump administration, a bad example in the service of a good cause (and if you believe that separating child from their parents for no reason is cool then STFU. I have no more to say to you). The segment passed muster with their broadcasting standards department, which acknowledges this was a mistake but still backs Ms. Bee.
Roseanne Barr’s tweet was done by her alone and more then likely reflects her true feelings. She has pushed racist and conspiracy bravo sierra for over a decade.
In the words of Bridget Read from Vogue magazine:
No, Samantha Bee Did Not Pull a Roseanne With Her Ivanka Trump Comments

She (Roseanne Barr) wasn’t crossing the line—she was enforcing a certain kind of unacceptable status quo.
To which I may add that enforcing the quo greatly reduced her status.
Bigly.
