I decided to do some research into the worst/best countries on their acceptance of LGBTQ people. The most recent study I could find was this one by Pew. The results are interesting.
The four worst countries are Ghana, Jordan, Egypt and the Palestinian Territories, all of which find had findings that more than 94% of the people believe that homosexuality is “morally unacceptable.” Three of the four are in the Mideast. Other countries in the Mideast (Lebanon, Turkey) were also pretty terrible. Israel was the only Mideast country where a majority believes that homosexuality is not a moral issue/acceptable.
The best countries were Spain, France, Germany, Czech Republic and Canada, all of which had rates of only 15% or less that found homosexuality to be unacceptable. Still too high.
In the US, 37% found homosexuality to be morally unacceptable. We still have lots of work to do.
