I’m about to start my last stint of active duty time before the election and have to disappear. Before I go, please read the message from my wife, share it with your friends, and help us flip the House!
The morning of July 17,2018 I woke up on a naval air station to the sound of morning colors being played over the loudspeakers. Moments before, my husband Chuck Enderlin had laced up his boots over his uniform, kissed our girls and me as we slept, and was out the door before dawn to teach the next generation of fighter pilots how to fly.
Chuck, like hundreds of thousands of other service members, rarely talks about patriotism or sacrificial duty. He’s too busy living it. Despite the constant stressors and the very real risks he faces every day he drills—casualty officers visit the families of fighter pilots far too often—his courage, integrity, and sense of duty never waiver.
Help us send a real patriot to represent Georgia’s 3rd District in Washington!
That other American leaders would respond so differently and display weakness of character astounds me. Only one day before, the president of the United States made an unprecedented announcement. He publicly stated he was siding against his own country in favor of an enemy state, thereby drawing a line in the sand: either your faith is in Russia, or your faith is in America.
Leaders across the United States have declared their choice. Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats who was handpicked by Donald Trump, Mitch McConnell, Paul Ryan, Newt Gingrich, John McCain, and dozens of other members of Congress on both sides of the aisle do not believe we should be stooges of a foreign political power bent on undermining our nation’s democratic elections. Even the president himself is showing signs that he recognizes (at least outwardly) the egregiousness of his transgression.
Oddly silent on the subject, however, is Congressman Drew Ferguson. I’ve become so accustomed to the unrelenting strength in my husband’s character I’ve had to rack my brain as to why someone could be silent on such an occasion. There are few potential reasons but as I always try to give people the benefit of the doubt, I will assume it is merely cowardice.
Most of us have never had the opportunity to meet the congressman; if we did we could point out that he has more to lose by remaining silent than he has to gain. Yes, every act of courage comes with a cost. To shy away at a time such as this, however, comes with a greater one.
My husband is challenging the congressmen for his seat, and I’m so proud of Chuck for speaking out forcefully in favor of America. On Friday, though, Chuck begins the active duty phase of his Marine Corps drill reserve period; this means he is not permitted to engage in political discourse or have any communication whatsoever with the campaign.
As Chuck serves his country, let’s band together to support him. When he returns to the campaign in four days lets surprise him with the financial resources to speak out on our nation’s behalf! Please help by donating $20, $30, or $50 today—every dollar counts. A $20 contribution reaches a hundred people in the district. One hundred people! Our American values need defending; join the fight today!
Sincerely,
Jenny Enderlin
