Earlier this month Spokane had the nonpleasure of Davin Nunes coming to raise money for McMorris Rodgers- number 4 in gop “leadership”, a woman, mom to 3 young children, married to a retired navy officer, former farm girl (not really), from “pioneer” stock, rapturist, right-wing Trumper (except if she disagrees with him which never happens cause he’s a “disrupter” and she likes that.
The Spokesman-Review asked that a reporter be allowed to attend and report on the the fundraising lunch, which cost $250 a plate or $500 to meet with Nunes. McMorris Rodgers declined the newspaper’s request.
There’s some transparency for ya right there.
That fundraiser drew attention when a recording was made public of Nunes’ remarks about the importance of keeping their majority death grip on the House. McMorris Rodgers also had some memorable comments
“When we get another constitutional conservative on the Supreme Court, we can end the decisions that have been undermining us for 30, 40 years,” McMorris Rodgers said…
... introducing Nunes to the crowd, in which she took swipes at Brown and praised Trump, who she called “a man of action,” on his record of job creation.
(my bolding)
The way this event unfolded was just as Democratic candidate Lisa Brown described it-
“I think it raises a really important question about her support of the [Mueller] investigation and whether or not different things are said behind closed doors than what is said publicly,” Brown said. She referenced a previous recording – a private conversation first reported by the Washington Post among GOP leadership in June 2016 regarding Trump’s ties to Russia that lawmakers said was intended as a joke – as further evidence, the congresswoman’s public and private statements on Russia haven’t been consistent.
So after that headliner event, we now have that alternative fact herself Kellyanne (i may be sick just typing it) Conway.
The event will be held Friday evening at a private Spokane home and cost $50 to attend. It will be open to media outlets, but video recording is not currently being considered, according to the campaign.
As the Spokesman Review points out, this is unlike the closed-to-the-media event with Nunes.
We’ve never been this close to booting our misrepresentative out. My crystal ball is totally nonfunctional. Especially since the early vote count in the primary this month showed a virtual tie and final vote totals showed McMorris Rodgers with a 4 point lead. (Republican votes came in later- Dems get there ballots in early!)
Also interesting to note yesterday’s town hall with Lisa Brown -
Democratic congressional candidate Lisa Brown made the case for her candidacy to an audience of about 300 potential voters Thursday night at the Spokane Valley Event Center, listening to audience concerns about Social Security and health care.
on the other side of the universe Spokane on the same evening, McMorris Rodgers had a town hall-
Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers faced a relatively calm – and sparse – gathering Thursday night.
Whether it was the smoke or the crosstown draw of seeing Democrat Lisa Brown on stage in Spokane Valley, a room of 300 chairs at the Spokane Convention Center was about a third full for the congresswoman’s annual Spokane town hall, and the most probing questions came from audience members watching on Facebook. Organizers said they’d handed out enough tickets to fill the room.

Despite the claim that she, CONway, was “ interested in coming out” (come on, she never heard of Spokane- probably says “cane” instead of the correct “can”) and..
“It wasn’t calculated, let’s put it that way,” McMorris Rodgers said. “I had actually talked to Kellyanne about coming out last year.”
...I still have functioning (sorely tested by all the crazy) brain cells and so do many of us and we know that this is a more accurate description as CONway puts it herself (she was referring to the word “dossier” but..)
“May I remind your audience it’s just a fancy French word for ‘a load of crap,’
