Via Charles P. Pierce, KCTV has the case of a Kansas woman told her birth certificate doesn’t prove she’s a citizen.
Barbara was born in a farmhouse in the 1970s in Leavenworth County. She had a birth certificate. Her father went to the courthouse days after she was born to certify her birth -- raised seal and all.
The local passport agency accepted her documentation as satisfactory for her passport application. Days later, she received a letter from the federal division of the U.S. Passport Agency out of Houston, TX, telling her the application was denied and required further documentation.
“I have a birth certificate it was accepted before, why wouldn’t it be accepted again?” Barbara explained.
The letter stated, because her birth certificate was not issued at a institution or hospital, it was not considered proof enough of her citizenship.

The theory behind this is that unknown numbers of people have obtained fraudulent birth certificates in order to get US citizenship. Supposedly, midwives, doctors, etc. signing off on births outside of regular medical facilities were also signing off on people who weren’t actually born on the right side of the border.
The Trump administration is using this to target latino Americans along the border.
According to a Washington Post report published Wednesday by Kevin Sieff, immigration lawyers in the area are reporting that “hundreds, even thousands” of Latinos born near the US-Mexico border are being told that their birth certificates aren’t sufficient proof of US citizenship to get their passports approved or renewed.
They’re being subjected to ridiculous document requests like baptismal records, and insulting interview questions like “Do you remember when you were born?” Some are having their existing passports revoked and being thrown in deportation proceedings, or even being barred from reentering the United States when they attempted to come back from Mexico.
The woman in question, Gwyneth Barbara, had no trouble with the local office handling her passport renewal — but a higher level office in Houston, TX notified her that her application was denied because her birth certificate was not considered proof of citizenship; she would need further documentation. She finally was able to get her passport renewed after contacting US Senator Jerry Moran.
Looked at your birth certificate lately? Can you remember who was there when you were born and can vouch for you? What if you weren’t born here, but became a citizen legally? Don’t count on that either.
A few weeks ago, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Director L. Francis Cissna told The Associated Press that his agency is hiring dozens of attorneys to form a task force to review the records of people who have become U.S. citizens since 1990, in order to identify people who deliberately lied on their citizenship applications.
“We finally have a process in place to get to the bottom of all these bad cases and start denaturalizing people who should not have been naturalized in the first place,” Cissna told the AP.

This is what life is like in Trump’s Amerika now; faceless bureaucrats can strip you of your citizenship by fiat. Barbara was fortunate she was not stopped at the border trying to return from a trip abroad, as other have been.
Trump was a leading promoter of the CT that Obama’s birth certificate was fake. Now he’s making that accusation against everyone he doesn’t want in the country. Republicans have been stoking paranoia by claiming millions of illegals are pouring in over the border. This is the real ‘witch hunt.’
Combine this with GOP efforts to remove people from voter rolls and demand very specific forms of ID to restrict voting, and this is a slow-motion form of ethnic cleansing.
As Pierce sums it up:
You can see where this is headed. Ms. Barbara got caught up in a system that has been hijacked by people so hellbent on kicking brown people out of the country that the pressure to do so is causing the system, to say nothing of the whole concept of citizenship, to become deranged. It doesn't take much to turn Us into Them. People should remember that.

They always say “It can’t happen here” — until it does. No one is safe as long as Trump and the Republicans are in control of the government.
They must ALL be voted out in November. Resist
