From today’s Washington Post:
White House national security adviser John Bolton on Sunday outlined conditions for a U.S. troop departure from Syria that appeared to contradict President Trump’s insistence less than a month ago that the withdrawal would be immediate and without conditions.
I was able to secure a transcript of the Oval Office conversation between Donald Trump (Stan Laurel) and John Bolton (Oliver Hardy). I am not at liberty to discuss how I acquired this transcript, so don’t ask.
STAN: Out of Syria in thirty days!
OLLIE: Exactly! As soon as ISIS is defeated.
STAN: Defeated more. Because we’ve defeated them, Ollie.
OLLIE: My thinking, precisely, Stanley.
STAN: So 30 days it is!
OLLIE: Right! If we eradicate ISIS in 30 days, vamoose!
STAN: But we’ve already defeated ISIS.
OLLIE: Correct!
STAN: Ollie?
OLLIE: Yes, Stan?
STAN: Have we defeated ISIS?
OLLIE: That’s what you’ve said, Stan.
STAN: Yes, I have.
OLLIE: Mmm-hmm.
STAN: So it’s true.
OLLIE: Must be, Stan, you said it.
STAN: So we can leave in 30 days.
OLLIE: When ISIS is wiped from the face of the Earth.
STAN: I’m confused, Ollie.
OLLIE: Yes you are, Stan.
