The Guardian reports that our Panem President has decided to expand his xenophobia to anyone not part of the “American Race”.
Immigrants applying for US visas will be denied entry into the country unless they can prove they can afford health care within 30 days of entering or can’t pay for it themselves, according to a proclamation signed by President Trump.
This wont affect immigrants already here (¡Gracias Donaldo! Says mi mamá). This won’t affect assays seekers, people already here, or Children…. for now. I’m waiting for the re-definition of those three concepts pretty soon.
I’m actually in the middle of getting my mamá her Green Card, as the mother of a US Citizen. She actually gave it up when we returned to Chile with her after she divorced my papá. Even my dad has stayed with his Green Card ( don’t ask me why) after all these years (at least as long as I’ve been born “anchor baby”.
“While lawful immigrants qualify for ACA subsidies, they’ll be stuck in a catch-22 because subsidized coverage does not qualify as insurance under the proclamation,” tweeted Larry Leavitt, executive vice president for health policy at Kaiser Family Foundation, a health care policy thinktank.
This sounds like an “Individual Mandate” the GOP loved so much.
Our head of Panem is not just throwing red meat to his base… it’s the whole animal kingdom. He then has the audacity of saying
The White House said in a statement that too many non-citizens were taking advantage of the country’s “generous public health programs”, and that immigrants contribute to the problem of “uncompensated health care costs”
Even if you buy into the so called effort to be just a merit-based immigration system, watch how he redefines what is merit. Or, who says family based immigration doesn’t have merit?
When 1st generation Norteamericanos try to bring their family… their PARENTS, they are enriching the all important “ family nucleus “ that Trump’s base so fiercely promote and defend. Mi Mamá, a 74 year old trained oil painter, Advertising professional, single mother, and all time badass (yes, I’m a proud mama’s boy)had told me she was going to bring her art to the US and work part time anywhere.
Trump also wants to charge any costs the future approved immigrant visa’s sponsor any use of government social programs.
As I chanted marching/protesting during my years living under Pinochet in Chile
“Y va a caer, y va a caer, va caer el Trump” (Pinochet rhymes with “caer” )
