I think we should agree with some Republican talking points in this one instance. It can be a very strong offense to agree with your opposition and then use their talking points to support your view. The repubs say they want trump to have a fair trial in the senate. So, what is a fair trial as the public knows it as this is what the public will go by, regardless if the trial is somewhat different in the senate.
For one all the evidence is presented. All the witnesses are called. You have jurors who have not reached a judgement of guilty or innocent until all the evidence and witnesses have been heard. This is a fair trial. We want a fair trial. So, what does this imply.
Moscow Mitch and Lazy Lindsay have already determined that trump is not guilty even before the trial begins. They should not be allowed to be part of the jury. Moscow Mitch has already said as a juror that he is doing what trump wants by coordinating with the White House. A juror is working with the accused to get them acquitted. Has the public view of that been seen on Perry Mason, Matlock, or any other instance with real life trials? If they have, and they were found out, it is illegal and they are prosecuted for it. Also, the repubs are saying that witnesses and documents should have been presented in the house. However, a lot of the public already knows that additional or new evidence and witnesses can be introduced during the trial if it wasn't a part of the case beforehand. This needs to be stated over and over. Evidence and witnesses which were not considered initially can be introduced at any time during the trial.
Witnesses to what went on are not testifying to what happened. To have a fair trial these witnesses must be heard.
There are documents we know about that have not been introduced into evidence. These need to be introduced as evidence to have a fair trial.
Trump deserves a fair trial because this is what our system of Democracy demands. Without all the witnesses, all of the evidence, and jurors who have not made up their mind before the trail, trump can’t have a fair trial in the Senate.
Most of the public agrees with the concept of a fair trial. This is what repubs say they want, and this is what we want also. So, get the witnesses, get the evidence, have jurors who have not already made up their minds before the trial. This is what is needed to have a fair trial. If repubs won't get witnesses, won't get evidence, have jurors already made up their mind, they won't let trump have a fair trial.
The public wants a fair trial for trump, we want a fair trial for trump, the repubs don't want a fair trial for trump.
