Just Desserts
As many of you know, I do enjoy going out to restaurants. However, I almost never order dessert. I often request the dessert menu, however, and read it with enjoyment. The main reason is that generally I’m completely full. Even though I’m a big eater, servings are huge in virtually every restaurant I’m at. And as I look around almost everyone requests a box for leftovers, which not all that long ago was called a “doggie bag”, used whether one had a dog or not.
There are a few desserts which are difficult to resist, no matter how full I am. If a crème brûlée covered with blueberries or raspberries is offered, my resolve might weaken. And just a few weeks ago, after a full meal at our favorite K&L Bistro, I had an ice cream sundae made with top quality ice cream and rich hot fudge. OMG I can almost taste it again.
In case it has slipped anyone’s mind, Thursday is Valentine’s Day. Traditionally, there will be candy. The inserts in the Sunday paper were full of ads for every kind of candy. I virtually never eat candy. I wouldn’t buy a candy bar or a box of candy for myself. But someone gave us a box of assorted chocolates. Now I know generally it’s like life; you never know……...etc. But they have been addictive to the point that I just finished the last one. I’m sort of hoping that I don’t receive a gift like that for a long time. I demonstrated weakness.
What is your favorite dessert? Do you have dessert with every dinner? Remembering back to my childhood, we did, and so did Mrs. side pocket’s family. How sweet is your sweet tooth?
