When rape allegations first surfaced against him, Virginia Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax quickly retained the services of the same law firm later used by Supreme Court Justice and beer lover Brett Kavanaugh, NPR reports.
Fairfax first brought on the firm of Wilkinson Walsh + Eskovitz in January 2018 to defend himself against the sexual assault allegation brought by Dr. Vanessa Tyson. At the time, Tyson had taken her account to the Washington Post.
Tyson first spoke with the Post in December 2017.
NPR also reports that Tyson, in another parallel, has retained the services of Katz, Marshall and Banks, the same Washington, D.C.-based firm that Dr. Christine Blasey Ford hired in 2018 after she came forward with allegations of sexual assault while the two were in high school against then-nominee Kavanaugh.
Tyson alleges that Fairfax committed rape while both were attending the 2004 Democratic National Convention in Boston.
Fairfax has vehemently denied the allegation, and insists the encounter was consensual.
