Thank you everyone for your patience with my incomplete morning diary today. I wanted to spend more time talking about Nancy Lopez, Martina Navratilova, Venus & Serena Williams, and A League of Their Own.
Speaking of A League of Their Own, today was Ichiro Suzuki’s final MLB game. He signed a player contract this off season, with the Mariners, likely for the expressed purpose of playing in the two games this week held in Tokyo, Japan versus the Oakland Athletics.
And as this tweet declares, there is crying in baseball. The picture in the bottom right is the one that really gets me choked up.
A short bio film played before a Seattle Seahawks’ game when he raised the Seahawks’ fan’s “12” flag.
As he leaves the field for the last time, he’s greeted by his good friend, and until this coming summer, the only Mariner in the HOF, Ken Griffey Jr.
Ichiro is practically a god in Japan. He is a mega star, and it’s so wonderful that he can end his playing career in his home country. I’m also thrilled that he’s ending his career with the team he began his career with, my Seattle Mariners.
Thanks for indulging my love for Ichiro and the Mariners. Now on to what else is happening today, because apparently there was more than Ichiro retiring…
I’m not opposed to the idea myself, and I’m intrigued by pairing during the primaries. With so many running I think it’s a good way to differentiate and outline a complete platform. Also, I’m not passing judgement on this particular pairing, just the idea of pairing.
Per talking heads on MSNBC this afternoon, there are lots of rumors that tomorrow could bring big news, and possibly a report
So much irony and hypocrisy with this behavior; and yes we knew this, what’s changed is we now have actual oversight happening from the House of Representatives
What’s on your mind?
