Let’s all remind ourselves that Donald J. Trump is president because a majority of white men and white women in America voted for him. African Americans didn’t ever support him and neither did people of color in general. Okay, so polls now after the Mueller Report have support for impeachment split, according to Reuters:
Forty percent said they thought Trump should be impeached, while 42 percent said he should not.
The truth that is such a white people problem. The vast majority of African Americans have long been for impeachment. Back in August of 2019 a poll by ABC News and the Washington Post showed:
93 percent of blacks disapprove of Trump and 80 percent support impeachment.
I don’t even have to ask whether those numbers hold up now. They do.
When I hear Nancy Pelosi and other Democratic leadership say that impeachment is “not worth it,” I have to ask to who?
Damn straight its worth it to put the racist in the White House in his place. What I hear is largely white Democrats arguing that pursuing the disaffected white middle-class Trump voter is more important than offending of African Americans and people of color.
I am not arguing that people should be sitting out the 2020 election because Democrats don’t pursue impeachment, I am saying that many will be so offended or dissatisfied that they just will. Maybe it will only be 10% that do so, but that will be more consequently than any percentage of disaffected white middle-class Trump voter that might be won back because Democrats didn’t offend their feelings. For many people of color, Trump’s racism is an existential matter. Just ask the people of Puerto Rico.
