Perhaps the most unnerving moment on the Sunday talk shows happened when Liz Cheney suggested that the text exchanges between Peter Strzok and Lisa Page were treasonous. This wasn’t just some conspiracy peddler talking. This was the number-three Republican in the House, and the highest-ranking Republican woman on Capitol Hill.
Well, Colonel Morris Davis, the chief prosecutor of the Gitmo military commissions, was having none of it. He took to Twitter and reminded Cheney that before she starts accusing anyone of war crimes, she ought to take a long look at what her father did.
Davis was referring to the waterboarding of detainees.
Absolutely brutal. But it’s not likely that will make an impression on Liz. Back in 2014, she actually said—with a straight face—that the people responsible for this shameful episode were patriots.
Still, this makes Liz’ ranting yesterday even more morally bankrupt than it actually sounded.
