Palestinians have a tendency to blame Israel for all their problems, this tendency benefits no one but their two corrupt leaderships (Hamas and Fatah).
It is time for the Palestinian people to pick up the mantle and face their domestic issues head on, of course some of those domestic issues are related to Israeli policies and/or occupation, but to assume that all the misery that Palestinians suffer from is directly caused by Israel is an illusion that intends to empower their corrupt leaderships.
Do Palestinians dare to protest against authorities in the West Bank or Gaza? They don’t, and whenever they do protest they get brutally beaten by law enforcements. Critics are silenced in both cities either by throwing them in jail or assassinating them.
Someone might argue that the lack of freedom within Palestinian territories is irrelevant given the occupation they live under which restricts their freedom of movement etc.. That’s a reasonable argument to raise in this discussion. I will simply point out that Palestinians can not reach a peace agreement with Israel under their current leaderships. For starters Palestinian officials representing the Palestinian people in negotiations with Israel have been in office since negotiations started in the early 1990s. How does it make any sense to allow officials to remain in office for nearly 3 decades? Those people have made no progress whatsoever to advance peace negotiations, the only progress they’ve made is expanding their bank accounts.
Therefore, it is time for the Palestinian youth to pick-up the mantle and fight for their inalienable rights, by doing so they will achieve progress within their own spheres that will ultimately lead to a new wave of elected officials that is not impacted by nepotism or corruption. This wave will certainly have a better probability of accomplishing peace or at least pushing negotiations forward.
