8-28-2019:
Precious life on Earth hangs in the balance, and is subject to the whim of politics. Meanwhile, the Brazilian rain forest, being an integral part of that which sustains all life on Earth, is far too subject to mankind's behaviors. It continues to be destroyed.
The situation of the fires in Brazil was addressed by world leaders at the recent G7 conference. President Macron of France led the way to form a coalition of aid - globally. $22 million was pledged to aid and fight the fires. Manpower was also offered.
Yet, Brazilian officials stated that aid was refused. Later, Brazilian President Jair Bosonaro, a dictator, denied the refusal that his officials had stated, and stated that he would accept funds "IF” Macron withdrew his 'insults' toward him," from, no less than, “Facebook drama.” To complicate matters, his Chief of Staff butted in, and did a "whataboutism" on Macron, to further blame Macron for the cathedral fire in France, and added some bullshit about "reforesting Europe," as though that compares to the dire situation in Brazil.
Truly, this IS bullshit and petty whining by Bosonaro, making this issue political, while the fires continue to burn! Tragically, the Brazilian rain forest is subject to pettiness, incompetence, and idiocy, by a dictator, as well as his petty and whiny administration. 'sound familiar?
Bosonaro has been previously criticized for his negligence of the rain forest, and for also calling for an increase in deforestation/logging of the forest. In fact, just earlier this month, both Norway and Germany suspended their funding to "Brazil's Amazon Fund," managed by the Brazilian Development Bank, due to those increases in deforestation, and the decimation of the "steering and technical" committees of the fund. Norway has contributed $1.2 billion in the past decade, and Germany, another $68 million.
The G7 group came up with $22 million to contribute. The UK added $12.2 million. Canada added $11 million. The "Earth Alliance," launched by actor Leonardo DiCaprio and others, came up with another $5 million for critical aid to the Brazilian natives. That comes to $40.2 million. Oddly, both Trump and Bosonaro have spoken of "talking" to one another, and Trump offering his "full and complete support." What support?
It seems that Bosonaro really does want the fires to continue, still refusing any aid to fight the fires. His "politics" have come off as merely an excuse, as he truly wants the deforestation from the fires to continue. So like Trump, he has whined that his government's reports on deforestation are just "fake news," and he "blames others" for "not protecting the rain forests," as he continues to decimate them. To him, the fires seem to be a fast track method to essentially “rid him” of the forests, saving him money from logging. He's out for profit only, and does not care who or what it destroys. That agenda is, also, all to familiar to us here in America, at this dark time in history.
The Brazilian rain forest supplies 20% of the oxygen for the entire world. Yet, now, it is emitting carbon monoxide, sucking that oxygen away. GREED DESTROYS.
