Bad news for y’all following me on twitter, you won’t find me there anymore, ever, most likely. Rather than see my tweet claiming Hillary Clinton had cut everyone’s arms and legs off as the brilliant satire of partisan Republican rhetoric that it was, they took it as a threat of some sort or the rantings of a madman. And as you scroll through this incredibly long gallery, ask yourself “Would a madman be capable of this?” Actually never mind — don’t do that.
Let my absence from the platform be a reminder that twitter is not Free Speech: if you threaten a Presidential candidate with an AR-15 they’ll suspend your account for a week. If you use satirically suggest the former First Lady and Secretary of State performed quadruple amputations on everyone, they’ll shut you down for good. Anyway, for those of you who’d like to keep the ghost of @PatrickRandall alive I’ve put together a post of greatest hits. Download them into a file and use them to illustrate points you make in your own tweets. I tried to concentrate on those signs with an indefinite shelf life like “Save the Planet,” “Sadly, treason isn’t even the ugliest thing about him...” and “Never, ever vote Republican again.”
Since I got back from DC in June I’ve been out to Phoenix and Portland, but mostly just been hitting my usual spots around the bay and in LA. I get a lot of flak for hanging signs in such blue areas, but I’m hoping to inspire like-minded individuals to join me. If people start using their 1A rights more effectively to a wider audience we may be able to turn things around. If it remains a novelty act well… at least we’ll have some pretty pictures to look at on our way to the boxcars. I’ve got to admit though, initiating a new art form/protest medium is a LOT harder than I thought it’d be.
Like I said, this is a pretty photo-intensive gallery, and most of the signs just say “Impeach” but that’s the sign that’s required right now. I try to make each photo different, with its own sort of charm, but there’s still a lot of scrolling involved. The point is to show you how much one person can pull off if they really throw themselves into it - (and this is probably less than a third of what I’ve posted over the past month,) — and that honestly it’d only take about a dozen of us about a week to reach at least half the people west of the Rockies. And that for 99% of those drivers, this would be the only non-internet protest they’ll see.
