I know it is a deadly sin in DK to make assumptions based only on observation with no tangible proof (AKA Conspiracy Theory) so I let my thoughts simmer until I saw someone with credentials say something.
On January 9th David Nakamura of the Washington Post wrote an article titled “ For Trump and Iran, trolling on Twitter helped escalate tensions on the battlefield” that echoed my thoughts.
On the morning of January 3rd when I opened The Miami Herald on my phone, as I was turning the coffee maker on, and I read the news that the United States had launched a drone strike near the Baghdad International Airport and killed Iran’s general Qasem Soleimani my first thoughts where of the tweets I had read just a few days before from the Khamenei handle and Trump’s.
In response to the demonstrations and attacks to the US Embassy in Baghdad Trump tweeted on December 31st :
Now, Iran’s religious leader and leaders have nothing to envy our own Evangelical religious leaders or our leader. So they decided to practice diplomacy via Twitter:
And what is the one thing you should not do to a tantrum prone tod? — Give up?
Tell them they can’t do something!
Kid Trump had a day to mull things over (have a tantrum with his military advisers) and the end result, well as they say “it’s history”. Indeed it will be history because by the time the real impetus for the strike is reveal, it will come down to “the President wanted to show Iran the US’s superiority and his own”.
That the General was a bad dude, hombre or whatever cliche you want to use, yes he was as is Kim Jong Um, Duterte, Maduro and all of the other usual suspects of today’s geopolitical universe but we, the US, don’t go launching drone attacks against these. This was simply a gut (ego) reaction to a schoolyard taunt. One which caused Iran to shoot down an Ukranian plane killing 176. This observation is not only my own but it was reported by Katie Simpson of Canada’s CBC and PM Justin Trudeau:
The only eminent 1 imminent threat was from our own president bruised ego that needed fluffing and apparently Defense Secretary Mark Esper was glad to do the deed.
I do hope that there is still some semblance of — I don’t know? — Humanity? Life? Self respect? And if Christians the belief of the wrath of God in the hearts of the Republicans and a couple of the pseudo Democrats supporting this president blindly and do the right thing in the Senate and vote to remove him from office. Otherwise another observation of my own, now being shared by more and more with higher credentials than I, that this president will take the world into a war from which no one will come out winners.
Please call your senator(s) and flood their lines with your wishes as a constituent and someone on this earth that doesn’t want an unstable person with the nuclear codes at it’s finger tips to settle personal matters and remove this president from office. Pence can be voted out and while we are at it McConnell too.
