Good morning, Comrades. Today is my sixteenth Kossack anniversary. Boy howdy, it feels like it, too. Remember how much younger we all were 16 years ago? I can barely recognize the girl I was that fateful Election day so long ago. So much water under the bridge, these American decades…
All this feels like deja vu today. Back in 2004, we were desperate to wrest our Nation from the corrupted fists of BushCheney-Halliburton NeoCons, and from all the hell they were wreaking on Iraq and Afghanistan. Doesn’t their brand of grifting and power-grab seem kinda quaint now, in retrospect, compared to the battered abuse our Democracy, Constitution and National Honor has taken since 2016?
But through it all, Daily Kos and the valiant Kossack legions have endured. We fought sometimes, argued all the time. We cried lots of times. We celebrated national victories and personal victories with loud Huzzahs! We worked hard when required. We rested and laughed and played together, too.
It all seems to have brought us to this brink today. Our Democracy teeters on a razor’s edge. We are holding a huge collective hopeful, expectant breath.
May we prevail once again. Daily Kos Kossacks have done more than extraordinary work to help us win this election, which victory will begin to right and evolve our beautiful American Ship of State. Fingers crossed and prayers offered. 🤞🏽🙏🏾
If this is your 16th anniversary today, or any anniversary today, join me here. This is a roll call. (All Kossacks from before Nov. 3rd, 2004 are welcome. All of you 1-4 numbered UID’s, if you want to come down from Mt. Olympus and grace us here. 😁) Roll Call! Come out and take bow!
