well oddly enough tonight everyone got to give a victory speech.
I decided to watch the 5 front-runners, and tried to do it in unbiased manner. To see which I liked the best.
Here’s my ratings from worse to best: Pete, Amy, Biden, Elizabeth, Bernie.
Pete. Pete had a staging with 5 black women in back of him. Hm I wonder why that would be. Also I found his cadence a little off. Talking too slowly and smiling for too long. He really didn’t say anything useful about his policy positions or why you should vote for him. Well hopefully he will win and get better experience and giving these speeches.
Amy, Not a great speech. She spent most of the speech trashing Trump, which I find kind of unsatisfying. I mean we can all do that, right. She also had a line that she rejects extremists from both left and right. That line makes me nervous because I think she’s going to be too moderate.
Biden. Not a bad speech. He spent a lot of the time peering at his notes and reading awkwardly. But overall he did a decent job attacking Trump and expressing his positions. He did show a low-key charm which some people may like.
Elizabeth. Typical Warren speech - very passionate and energetic. She started with too much Trump-bashing. I enjoy Trump bashing but it shouldn’t be the basis for the whole speech. But she went on to describe her career and her positions. I noticed that she didn’t mention Medicare for All, which was interesting. I like it when she thanks the dog Bailey, but she just calls him a Good Boy. That seems a little condescending.
Bernie. I’m not really a supporter of Bernie, but he does give a good speech. Of course we all know about income inequality and the top 1%. But he also got climate change in there and Medicare for All. And he trashes Trump pretty well. He had the style of speaking that goes back to JFK and Clinton...quite effective.
