Since the acquittal of the Extortionist in Chief, I have been getting daily robo-calls that shout at me starting with the words, “This is Donald Trump. . .”. My first instinct was to hang up immediately, but by the third call I got curious what they were about.
The first one I listened to was DT trying to get me to immediately “donate” to Moscow Mitch’s reelection campaign. Basically he was asking me to help pay off the guy who helped him get off hook for his impeachment. Since he wants me to feed his turtle (McConnell) is this a squid pro quo? Anyway, it sounds like a shakedown to me. And so typical of the Don — trying to get someone else to pay his bills.
One thing my girlfriend and I noticed immediately about these calls; we could hear the Donald and clearly identify that it was his voice from across the room. That guy is loud! But it also spoke to the testimony that people could overhear Ambassador Sondland’s calls with the President. We could easily believe that testimony after those calls.
The next call was from the Don himself telling me he would “keep me safe” if I donate to his campaign. So, he’s now running a mob-style protection racket and hitting us all up for “insurance” money. This kind of shake down is called wire fraud (18 U.S.C. section 1343). And the penalties are per count (i.e. per call)! I know I’ve received at least one call a day for the last 3 days, but if they are robocalling then the counts could be in the millions. With the penalties set at $250,000 for individuals and $500,000 for organizations per count and 20 yrs in jail, that adds up fast! The penalties rise to a million dollars and 30 years if it involved a scam in a presidentially declared emergency! Border wall anyone? Are there any lawyers out there looking for a class action suit?
