Monday is trash day for us. This morning, after I added the last sack from the house, a couple of sacks of shop waste, and rolled the trash can out to the edge of the road, I spotted some items of litter that Bridge had helpfully picked up from the right of way and brought to his headquarters in the front yard. He likes getting litter items to make crinkly sounds when he bites them. One item was a beer can. That makes a great sound when bit and was full of holes. The other item must not have made good crinkly sounds and was barely damaged. It was an empty box with a foil bubble wrapper inside that had contained one push out pill. That pill had been pushed out of its bubble and was gone. The writing on the outside of the box said — Plan B One-Step next day contraceptive. I stuck it and the beer can in one of the open sacks of shop waste and walked away. Then I took a notion to photograph the box at the spot where I found it in the front yard. I went in to get my camera, but before I got back, the trash truck came and the opportunity was lost — thus the picture of Bridge as my header.
Someone in my neighborhood is both careless and a litterbug. Alison thought a prescription was required to buy this item, so I considered looking along Bridge’s litter pick up zone to see if someone had also been dumb enough to toss out a receipt with a name on it. Before doing that, I Googled Plan B and found out that this product is stocked on shelves of many retailers and can be bought without a prescription.
I live in a Logan County, KY. Except for me, my wife Alison, and maybe enough others to pack the pews of a small church (the horror), nobody else in Logan County would vote for any Democrat because all Democrats are baby killers. This set also believes unborn humans have a soul and all other rights assigned to a fully formed human from the precise moment of conception. And yet, someone around here chose to end a process that could already be set in motion and hide evidence of that choice from other members of their household by tossing the empty box out a vehicle window. Curious world we live in.
