Re this post from Hunter, Fascism: Hours after Biden wins, Senate Republicans relaunch Biden Probe.
It isn't even the slightest bit surprising that the very moment Democratic presidential contender Joe Biden leapt back into frontrunner status, Republican Sen. Ron Johnson used his post as Senate "Homeland Security" Committee chair to announce that it turns out he will also be reviving the Trump-backed claims against Biden's son Hunter that Rudy Giuliani has been shipping in from disgraced oligarchs with an axe to grind against the new anti-corruption Ukrainian government.
New word here. Remember when John Kerry was “swiftboated”?
Biden is going to be “Benghazied”.
Benghazi, verb:
A political tactic used to discredit the targeted victim by holding repeated Congressional hearings in which unsubstantiated accusations are repeated ad nauseam, records are demanded, testimony is compelled, leading questions are asked, and conspiracy theories are given broad exposure. To “Benghazi” someone is to smear the target by associating them in the mind of the public with all of the negative associations that can be fabricated, implied, or otherwise injected into the proceedings.
It is intended to sap the target’s energy and time, and to discredit their reputation in as unpleasant a manner as can be managed. It is also intended to burden them with legal defense costs. The target’s associates and allies may also be dragged in wherever possible, to discredit them and discourage others from speaking out.
The purpose is to generate negative news stories and material that can be amplified on social media. Soundbite headlines on the nightly news further propagate the assault on the target. Cokie’s Law will apply even if it is obvious the proceedings are purely partisan and the accusations are baseless.
The word is derived from the extensive Congressional hearings in which Hillary Clinton was repeatedly raked over the coals over allegations that she and other members of the Obama administration were somehow directly responsible for the deaths of four Americans, including Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens from an attack on U.S. facilities in Benghazi, Libya.
...Despite persistent accusations against President Obama, Hillary Clinton, and Susan Rice, ten investigations — six by Republican-controlled congressional committees — did not find that they or any other high-ranking Obama administration officials had acted improperly.[18][19][20][21] Four career State Department officials were criticized for denying requests for additional security at the facility prior to the attack. Eric J. Boswell, the Assistant Secretary of State for Diplomatic Security, resigned under pressure, while three others were suspended.[22] In her role as Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton subsequently took responsibility for the security lapses.[23]

Also from wikipedia:
...A possible political motive for the investigation was revealed on September 29, 2015, when Republican House majority leader Kevin McCarthy, then vying to become Speaker of the House, told Sean Hannity on Fox News that the investigation was part of a "strategy to fight and win,' adding "Everybody thought Hillary Clinton was unbeatable, right? But we put together a Benghazi special committee, a select committee. What are her numbers today? Her numbers are dropping."[248][249]

Joe Biden has repeatedly floated the hypothesis that Republicans will moderate their behavior after Trump is out of the White House. All of the Benghazi hearings took place long before Trump was on the scene...
