First, let’s agree that stopping Trump is the objective, ok?
I’ll admit it up front, I’m an unashamed progressive on most fronts, a moderate on others and a conservative on a few.
Not unlike most of you to one degree or another.
I support Bernie for all the reasons everyone is aware of: integrity, honesty, commitment, incorruptibility, and a clear vision of the the future that I can support.
I support his candidacy and hope very much he wins the nomination.
But understand this, please.
I cannot morally support a vote for Biden...unless...and that’s a very big unless, the moderates compromise and commit, forged steel, carved in stone, immutably commit to working to legislate and pass at least two of Bernie’s agenda items, any two.
That’s the price of my vote.
Personally I think selecting Biden would be a disaster of the first order.
At his age, his notorious penchant for gaffes is far too easily going to be twisted by Trump into displays of senility and dementia, and be the more effective for having more than a micro-milligram of truth.
He is Clinton redux without the charisma, and is a continuation of the failed “vote for me, I’m not him” strategy.
He represents a desire to return to the status quo ante Trump, but that calculus fails to consider that that status quo is what delivered us Trump.
I think nominating him will depress the turnout and deliver the election to Trump.
But that’s just my opinion, feel free to have yours.
However, my vote belongs to me and me alone, it is not for anyone else to dictate.
I will not pledge to vote blue no matter who.
If Biden is selected, there is no way I can support him based on his past votes, past behaviors, and past associations.
To me he is just as much of a corporate-owned and operated corrupt politician as Clinton is. Plus i honestly believe his mental capacities are deteriorating.
But I can compromise, hold my nose and vote against my best interests yet again, but this time, I demand a price.
Two items, in stone, or I vote Green.
