Five years ago today, on May 8, 2015, was Dad’s funeral.
In the four days after Dad’s passing, I began the process of planning Dad’s funeral. All I had left were my critters, Norman, Apophis, and Anubis. That picture above shows two of the three critters I had then, with Anubis out somewhere doing cat things. This was pre-Delight and Anubis was still coming inside in those days.
Norman was then about 18, and very sick. In the last few months prior to Dad’s passing, it was an ongoing question of whether or not Norman would die before Dad. As it happened Norman died a few months later as I looked into his eyes so that I would be the last thing he ever saw. I suppose it was a good thing that Dad went first because I do not think Dad would have reacted well to hearing Norman had died as he himself was in his last days.
In the next days, I wrote Dad’s eulogy, and I gave Dad’s eulogy at his funeral, and I video recorded it.
For those of you who have been hearing me talk about Dad for years, both before and after his passing, watching this video will give you a better idea about our lives together and our relationship up until the end.
Please check it out.
