<big><big>Diaries in this series</big></big> are posted as often 3 or more new groups are created. The series in total covers groups created 2018 onward, with earlier groups occasionally spotlighted. To reach previous diaries in this series, click on #NewDkGroups in the TAG LIST up in the left margin. For automatic delivery of future diaries like these to your ActivityStream, hover on that tag until the outline of a heart appears, click on it, and it’ll go solid (you’re “following” the tag and series).
<big><big>Why be in groups? Especially if you’re not really the type?</big></big>
This is why <big><big>►</big></big>
All organized groups —DK’s included, and not the local/geographic groups alone— embody potential power for real-world change, and NEVER has that mattered more than this November’s ballot-box.
You can post about protest, science, space, gardening, history, politics, and also kittens and puppies at the same time as about what you’re seeing people doing in the realworld to be part of getting out the Dem vote, getting masks to people without them, and all the other powerful endeavors Dems are active in.
DK has possibly over a thousand groups and diary series across a huge range of interests, some long-running, some defunct, others in-between.
<big><big>You don’t have to literally join a group to read and comment at diaries originated or reblogged there.</big></big> You can just click on their blogview or on their diary-list page (that’s the group-name link in the listings above), bookmark the page in your browser, and drop by whenever you like.
If you want automatic delivery to your Activity Stream of diaries originated at a particular group —many groups only reblog, so this won’t work for that, ‘tho’— click on the group’s name to get their page with
♥ Follow
centered nearish the top, click on that, it’ll become Unfollow and that’s how you know you did it rite.
You’ll also see there the buttons/links for Profile page, Members page, etc. If you’ve posted enough diaries that you’ve got the hang of how that’s done, and you would like to write “for” a given group, use the Members page to find the group’s admins, click on their names one by one to reach their individual Profile page and find one who’s commented very recently as indication that they’re active enough that they’ll see the kosmail you send —click Send Message at his/her profile page— requesting to join that group in order to post diaries there. You might want to include a couple of links to diaries you’ve already posted, so the admin you’re contacting can see those diaries to help them decide to send you an invitation to join.
<big><big>NOTE: messages/kosmails to a group will not generate a New Message alert to anyone: </big></big>not at the envelope icon at the top of anyone’s blogview page, and not in anyone’s WELCOME BACK box on the ‘ol’fashion pages.
So, if you did kosmail to a group —asking to join, requesting diary republication/rebloging, inviting shared activity with another group you’re an admin of yourself, etc.— if you don’t hear back within 24 to 48 hours, it’s probably best to find an individual admins who’s recently commented, and then send a new message to her/him.
But be aware that a group with no active admins cannot add new members, and a group with no active admins nor editors cannot post/reblog diaries to the group.
<big><big>For more dk how-to information,</big></big> you can click on this link: tutorials and you also can read up at the official HELPDESK KNOWLEDGE BASE.
<big><big>Below are several friendly, regularly “meeting” open-thread groups where you can usually post a comment asking a question about how-to, besides participate in the comment thread of whatever the diary’s about.</big></big> Usually there are some very skilled longtime kosaks at these groups who can reply to questions about the site or help you find where to get more answers:
