The bailouts from the coronavirus crisis are going to major corporations including those that made large campaign contributions to Senators.
It is time to stop the corruption in our elections that enables this outrage, not just during this crisis, but in every election.
We now have an elected government that doles out taxpayer bailouts to those who contributed to their campaigns and leaves many small businesses and working people unable to pay their bills.
This was not always the case. First, the Supreme Court gave constitutional rights to corporations. Then, after several other bad decisions, most notably Citizens United v. FEC, it became legal for wealthy individuals, foreign entities, and large corporations to contribute unlimited sums of money, anonymously, in any political campaign.
It is time we demand that our Senators, including those who are up for reelection and their challengers, commit to supporting a U.S. Constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United and all related decisions. A resolution has been introduced in the U.S House of Representatives, but not yet in the Senate. This letter campaign is designed to correspond to the resolution in the House.
Click Here send a letter to your senators and their challengers. Tell them to regulate campaign finance to end corporate bailouts and other corruption among our elected officials.
