but based on personal experience with Republican secretaries of state, disasters and vote suppression.
Senate Republicans are apparently never going to reach consensus on the next relief/stimulus package. They’re not even trying. In “a couple of weeks,” Mitch “The Most Loathed Man in America” McConnell says he may have something. Millions of us are about to fall into a financial abyss, jeopardizing our livelihoods and our homes.
The blanket federal ban on evictions expired Friday. Larry Kudlow assured renters it would be restored right away and hey, when has he ever been wrong?
Even if the moratorium is brought back in a comprehensive bill in “a couple of weeks,” the ranks of homeless renters will swell dramatically right now. Owners, too, if real assistance to actual middle-class workers, not the executives of the companies that employ them, isn’t delivered now.
So, intended or not, we are about to see a large increase in people changing addresses. What do you want to bet some Republican secretary of state is going to pick right now to cook up a quick return-postcard-to-verify-address voter purge?
I’m not saying they will or they won’t, but can you honestly say they wouldn’t? I can’t, because I’ve seen them do it more than once.
Whatever your situation…
