From the local Fire and Rescue Authority website: "Non-permissible (illegal) fireworks are those which explode and/or leave the ground, such as firecrackers, bottle rockets, Roman Candles, aerials, missiles, and other similar items." [Emphasis mine]
I saw at least half a dozen signs in the area leading up to the 4th, probably more — three just in my neighborhood alone, that were very polite. "Someone in your neighborhood is afraid of fireworks. Please be considerate."
But they went unheeded. Ignored. Maybe scorned and mocked (I mean would that surprise anyone? With their chants, and their unabashed embrace of "toxic masculinity", and their desire to "trigger" and "own" the libs, and their bumper stickers like, "Make Liberals Cry Again" and "Buy a Gun: Piss Off a Liberal" ? No, it would seem to be right in line with their animosity, disrespect, and hostility).
If it weren't for the lack of damage to my house, I would have said we were being shelled with artillery. It was LOUD. Some of the explosions actually shook the walls.
One of my cats wound up under a couch in another room, terrified.
Now she's having problems urinating and there's blood in the urine when she does get a few drops out. I called the emergency vet when I noticed it. They said it could wait until our regular vet opened. I took her in shortly after the regular vet opened, thinking it might be a UTI, but the vet thinks it might be cystitis. Cystitis and similar issues with blood in the urine are known to be caused by stress.
Can I prove there's a connection? Of course not. Does it seem very possible? Yes. The fireworks have been going on for weeks, but of course they got insanely bad on the 4th. I'm hearing them again tonight, and my poor girl has perked up in alarm.
She's peeing on the carpet in front of me as I type this.
Your "freedom" and "right" to do something (particularly when it’s already illegal, but even when it’s not) ends when it impacts someone else.
