Results of an independently conducted autopsy on the body of 18 year old Andres Guardado, killed under troubling circumstances as yet unexplained by Los Angeles sheriff’s deputy identified in press reports as one Manuel Vega, a cop with a similarly troubling history have been the subject of a press conference held by the attorneys for the surviving family of Guardado.
It reveals only brief details but it seems the teen was shot five times in the back, seemingly at close range and grazed in an arm, the bullet traveling forwards relative to the body at rest. Preliminary toxilogy indicates he had no alcohol or drugs in his system, according to the report.
In response the LASD held a short presser that was mostly boilerplate, stalling and repetition of earlier obfuscation regarding the fate of video camera footage and the cameras themselves, which LASDs seem to have smashed in a panic following the shooting, presumably to buy time to obtain and plant an untraceable “throw-down” gun on the corpse.
CNN reporting:
The deputy who shot and killed Guardado has not yet been interviewed, but is scheduled to do so, Commander Chris Marks of LA County Sheriff's Department (LASD) said at a press conference Wednesday. "We're on his timetable," Marks said, explaining that statements from the deputies are voluntary. The deputy who did not fire at Guardado has been interviewed. Both deputies are still employed by LASD, according to Marks.
