Trump’s legal team has been spewing forth conspiracy theories about voter fraud, and the Mighty Wurlitzer of the right-wing noise machine (RWNM, for short) has been echoing these claims. And now only ¼ of Republicans trust that the election was honest.
A frequent component of these utterly false stories is that Dominion voting machines and / or Smartmatic software are used by Democrats to cheat. I’m not going to link to false accusations, but I will link to the result: lawsuits against the Trump campaign and the varied elements of the RWNM.
Eric Coomer of Dominion has had to go into hiding. They even doxxed his parents.
Antonio Mugicia of Smartmatic also has a defamation lawsuit going.
My proposition is simple. We of the Great Orange Satan raise money to help these gentlemen and / or their companies prosecute these lawsuits. I’m sure the RWNM can afford a bazillion lawyers, and some of them may be more competent than Rudy Giuliani and Sidney Powell.1 It’s going to be expensive.
Our help, though, will carry a price. We want the truth to be part of the public record. Our offer to help fund these lawsuits would carry the stipulation that Coomer / Mugicia not agree to any settlement with a defendant, unless that defendant’s communications regarding the 2020 Presidential Election become part of the public record. That is, as part of the lawsuits the plaintiffs will send subpoenas for these communications (“discovery”) to show that the defendants acted with reckless disregard for the truth. I’m quite certain that the defendants emails will show that they knew they were lying, and were doing so on behalf of Donald Trump. And there is likely to be coordination among various defendants, to ensure that the RWNM was playing the same tune across all channels.
Documenting as a matter of legal fact, in a publicly accessible record, that the RWNM engaged in a conspiracy2 to spread lies on behalf of Donald J. Trump is worth a few bucks. It just might shake a few Republicans loose from their addiction to these outlets.
I’m not a lawyer, so I’m not sure on the details of our agreements with the plaintiffs, or if GoFundMe is the best mechanism. I’m also not certain that Markos wants to do this via Kos Media, or at all. But I think it needs to be done.
Footnotes
1: The amount of sarcasm in “may be more competent” cannot possibly be conveyed in text. You should imagine a 13 year old discussing the uselessness of algebra, or something along those lines.
2. Not all conspiracies are criminal. I don’t think anyone is going to jail for this.
