Ossoff is ahead by 16,000 votes, .38 %. A 24,000 vote margin (actually less) would get Ossoff outside of the .5% margin meaning it would be too big a lead by percentage for a request for a recount. It appears that the networks won’t make the call until Ossoff reaches that .5% lead. What remains is Democratic. I think it likely that Ossoff nets at least another 8,000 by late this afternoon at the latest. Then, it will be called by the networks. Reverend Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff have won their elections ! We cannot thank Stacey Abrams enough ! She wants to pursue the governor’s mansion that she was cheated out of last time when Brian Kemp essentially got to both play a sport and referee the very games that he himself was participating in. Utterly unethical. She should do whatever she wants and be given whatever position that she is interested in if she changes her mind and no longer wants to run again for the governor’s mansion.
There were two run off elections in Georgia. And they were both won by the Democratic candidates. When two Democratic candidates for US Senate win run off elections in Georgia, then the republican message and activity is NOT WORKING ! The sedition caucus needs to take notice of the outcome of these election and rethink their position against democracy, at least those who have aspirations to become president. If this bullshit doesn't sell in Georgia, it is a losing message for most of the country. Josh Hawley and Ted Cruz both have an outstanding academic background. They know better. Gabriel Sterling, the republican, refuted point by point the baseless conspiracy theories. When Bill Barr and Rush Limbaugh and Chris Christie and Gabriel Sterling and Chris Krebs and Pat Toomey and Doug Ducey and Brad Raffensperger and 38 plus republican and Trump appointed judges and justices have all rejected these baseless claims and all understand that Biden won a free and fair election devoid of widespread fraud, then we know Biden legitimately won the election. All of those above republicans would not have conceded this truth if it were in doubt. Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley know this. They know Joe Biden won a fair and free election devoid of widespread fraud.
This wasn't a one state victory like 2000 or 2004. The popular vote margin was over 7 million votes. The percent win of the popular vote was 4.5%. Three states and so much widespread fraud that five digit (ie ten thousand plus) voter fraud in all three states ? Really ? No precedent for this.
The fact is that John Kerry and Hillary Clinton both conceded by the morning of the day after the election. Hillary called to concede despite the Trump Tower meeting between Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskiya and Donald Trump jr (as reported by the lifelong conservative republican former director of the FBI and Marine Robert Mueller in his report) and the quid pro quo with the Russians for opposition research and despite Cohen who was repaid by Donald Trump himself (showing it was for him) violating campaign finance law by paying porn stars well over the legal contribution limits three weeks before the election [and it landed Cohen, Trump's fixer in prison] and despite Comey's moralizing sermon within 90 days of the election violating DOJ and FBI policy. She had every reason in the world to litigate and refuse to concede. What did she do ? She called to concede to Donald Trump within half an hour of the AP calling the election for Trump. She even gave a speech to promote the peaceful transfer of power.
Now, Kerry also conceded and he filed no lawsuits in an election decided by one state. Barbara Boxer stated clearly that her objection which Kerry opposed was not to object to the results but simply to highlight and bring attention to voter suppression. Trump has not conceded and keeps trying to overturn the valid results of the election. That makes these objections by the sedition caucus completely different than anything done before. They are now since Trump has not conceded trying to help Trump win the election even though the results of the election show that he lost as admitted by all of the republicans who voted for Trump by the way listed above.
It's hard to lose an election, but when it happens then you need to put your big boy pants on and promote democracy and understand that the country is more important than your ego driven by narcissism.
And this was so unattractive that two Democratic candidates for US Senate won the run off elections in Georgia. That should tell all of those who have aspirations to become president that this is a losing message. If you represent a blood red state, I suppose you can get away with it. But this message is vastly unpopular with a strong majority of the American people as demonstrated by the results of the special elections in Georgia.
The republican party is being split in two: there is the sedition part of the party led by Trump, Cruz, and Hawley and there is the pro democracy conservative part of the party led by Mitt Romney.
The former has no future in national politics. The GOP is in real trouble and I can only hope that the sedition caucus senators change their ways. We need two responsible pro democracy parties in this country. Right now, we have one: the Democratic Party.
