I hadn’t seen anyone else write on this story, however when I saw it on MSNBC yesterday, it sent a chill down my spine.
It seems that while Vice President Mike Pence, our U.S. Senators and Representatives, their protective units and aides were under attack and hiding in underground bunkers — while they were being hunted by armed terrorists as they attended to certifying the election on January 6th — Maryland Governor Larry Hogan (R) was trying to get assistance to them in their time of great and urgent need.

Hogan said he was in the middle of a videoconference with the Japanese ambassador to the United States when his chief of staff came in to tell him that “the U.S. Capitol was under attack.” Hogan said he immediately excused himself from the videoconference and convened an emergency meeting to mobilize state troopers and the National Guard.
Hogan said he received a call in the middle of that meeting from Maryland Rep. Steny Hoyer, the No. 2 House Democrat. Hogan said Hoyer told him that he was with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and New York Sen. Charles Schumer “in an undisclosed bunker they’d been spirited off to."
Hogan also said Hoyer told him that the U.S. Capitol Police were "overwhelmed." The governor said Hoyer “was pleading with us” to send the National Guard, but Hogan said he had not received authorization.

I watched the news segment live, and it was similar to this video:
Governor Hogan describes the reason for the delay in sending Maryland National Guard
Governor Hogan describes trying multiple times to get authorization and is repeatedly denied permission to mobilize assistance. No authorization was granted by the Secretary of Defense for more than 90 minutes. Let that sink in. Rioters were rampaging through the Capital building, hunting for our elected representatives — and the Secretary of Defense denied permission to send the National Guard to save them from these dire straits.
As you may remember, immediately after the election Trump fired his Secretary of Defense Mark Esper, who had informed Trump in September that the military would have no role in the election. Then Trump appointed a loyalist Christopher Miller as Acting Secretary of Defense.
I guess now we know why. No wonder Nancy Pelosi is demanding that Trump resign or be impeached immediately.
