90 feet high, according to George. His crew took down that massive tree pictured above. I will say, She was a little past 40 years along. We had her “clear cut” 15 years ago, and they did a great job. Breakage from wind, and my wife reckons a lightning strike or two (just me saying, don't ask) — well, and rot, down to the roots, George said.
You can't tell by that picture (kudos to my wife) but She was like a full forest of trees, every branch a strident statement. 90 feet tall.

She has left us with a clean, even, eight inch stump. George made the point that removing the stump was out of the question because of the location of NiCor Gas lines. (We had NiCor visit, lots of little flags.)

It now being October, I don't know if there's anything I can do just yet, but my heart tells me I'd be happy if She sprouted a stump bush. Spontaneous growth. It would be perfect. The alternative is a bump, rising up to a stump. Which is how what has befallen now stands.

In case I buried the lede — help.
