Tired of reading that? I am.
As a paramedic (or Ambulance Driver as some call us), I cringe every time I hear that or “transported with non-life threatening injuries”.
The later because I have take more than one gun shot victim who will now have a colostomy bag for a minimum of several months or longer, or a broken arm or leg that is going to be a permanent limp or limited use.
Sure it is not a life threat, but it is life changing.
Same goes for the Covid rant. It’s survivable, but still life changing.
Let’s look at a virus. 70% of those who get it never notice, 24% get mild symptoms and it takes lab testing to be sure what it was, 5% get sick but recover with limited deficits, and 1% — well by age group 2-5% death rate for children, 15-30% for teens and young adults, and 25-75% for adults. It has a 3 to 16 day incubation and the best test location is the nose.
So this virus has a 99%+ survival rate as well.
It is polio.
The survivors from the 5% and 1% often are paralyzed in one or more limbs, have weak lungs, and impaired life.
You have to ask then, since polio has a 99% survival rate, “Why get a vaccine for something with such a high rate of survival”.
