Personal Accomplishments in 2021 (and probably yours, too)
First off, I proved myself
A good family person by caring
And protecting my spouse and children
I displayed the tenets of Christianity
And other religions, too,
By loving my neighbor
I was a patriot, through all 12 months, serving my country
By protecting its citizens
And keeping our economy strong
Through daily inconveniences and a small sacrifice of comfort
I exhibited the qualities of a saint,
Although I performed no miracles
And I am most proud of joining a noble group of people
Who, like me, might be called heroes
By simply performing the same tasks I did…
Of masking, social distancing and getting
All the vaccinations available to battle
Covid-19 in this year of 2021.

I think a lot about changing the narrative. I believe the majority of the people in the country are described in the poem above. And yet, we rarely acknowledge or have news stories about them. I think that part of the political discussion should be about the people doing the actual work of saving and protecting the country — those ordinary folks who never seem to be interviewed.
