Today, 80 years ago, the Imperial Japanese Navy attacked American forces at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, launching the USA into a long war against both racist fascist and racist nazi ideologies, then suffocating nations of millions. Many, many, many years of battles and horror lay ahead, and thousands of Americans never lived to see the Victory to come, they were killed that first quiet Sunday morning in Hawaii. Many of our attackers were killed by our forces, also. It was losing “the first round”, but “they’ll be others”. And there were, many, and today, more fascists are stirring, and KOS folks and anti-fascist Americans will fight them, too. Our DNA.
We were a flawed nation in 1944, and still we are. Yes, an understatement, certainly.
But we Americans try, because our Constitution and our history, and our Armed Forces dead and wounded, call to us to improve. Always. It’s an anti-fascist birth certificate, our American Constitution, shared by all of us.
Today, Americans fight fascists and nazis still, wisely, but determinedly, as they did then, and we must today. Our American DNA is anti-fascist, anti-nazi, and anti-alt fascistnaziskkkrumpgopers, and we fight them and resist them whoever they are and wherever they come from! American Service Members this second are doing so, at mortal risk, in many dangerous places.
The honored memory of American deaths in battle 80 years ago today sustains us now, sustains our Service Members and their families, and sustains, well, …, me… .
Please give a moment today KOS writers and thinkers of every variety to remember and honor that we have military American Ancestors whose spirits and dedication lift our hearts to fight fascism. They did. Eighty years ago, fascism screamed in out of the Hawaiian sky, but it had no chance. They attacked Americans, anti-fascists to the core.
Remember and Honor Pearl Harbor!
Peace
