Do you think that men should have the option of bilateral epididymectomy for sterilization purposes? After all, a bilateral epididymectomy (in other words, the surgical removal of the epididymis on both sides of the scrotum; the epididymis is the tube that’s responsible for sperm maturation and motility) should be MUCH more effective than a vasectomy is, and while a vasectomy’s effectiveness rate might SOUND impressive, it actually isn’t when you realize that out of millions of vasectomies, there are likely to be THOUSANDS of failures—which is A LOT! Vasectomy failure certainly ISN’T an acceptable excuse to avoid paying child support for 18+ years (and any woman’s promises in regards to abortion or adoption can always be broken later on as a result of her changing her mind (or lying), with you still being forced to pay 18+ years’ worth of child support afterwards), which is why I figured that men should have a MUCH more effective sterilization option available to them. I’ve already found a couple of doctors who would be willing to perform this surgery for sterilization purposes, but at a personal out-of-pocket cost of $2,000-$3,000. So, what would be REALLY nice would be to legally require health insurance companies to FULLY cover the costs of this surgery, as they already apparently do at least in many cases for bilateral salpingectomies for women—and as this Change.org petition advocates:
www.change.org/…
If women are able to get their ENTIRE reproductive tubing surgically removed for sterilization purposes (a bilateral salpingectomy removes women’s Fallopian tubes in their entirety), why exactly should men NOT be able to get MUCH more extensive reproductive tubing removal of their own if they will so desire, and to have it fully covered by their insurance just like women apparently already have it?
Also, why exactly doesn’t Planned Parenthood perform bilateral epididymectomies for sterilization purposes on men? Simply because no one has ever actually asked them to so far? Because I’ve noticed that a lot of men are unaware that bilateral epididymectomy is even an option for sterilization purposes, let alone that it is MUCH more effective than a vasectomy is!
Anyway, any thoughts on all of this?
