Marsha Blackburn, G.O.P.
Senator from Tennessee:
There is something that enthralls
Her about Neanderthals.
They're models for the human race,
Whose ideals we should all embrace.
They're resourceful; they're resilient;
I guess she also thinks they're brilliant.
The problem is it makes no sense
To say this in the present tense.
Great as they were in their heyday,
They're now defunct, extinct, passé.
They did not have the wherewithal
To thrive, the poor Neanderthal,
Did not have the wit to know
How to fight an unseen foe
Like a virus or a bug.
Nature therefore pulled the plug.
