As expected, two of Biden’s cabinet nominees are one step closer to confirmation this evening.
The cloture motion to end debate on Marcia Fudge’s nomination to be Secretary of Housing and Urban Development passed 69 to 30, with one member, Kevin Cramer of North Dakota not voting. Here’s the roll call vote:

Similarly, the cloture motion to end debate on Merrick Garland’s nomination to be Attorney General passed 70 to 29, with Cramer not voting. Here’s the roll call vote:

All of the Democrats voted in favor. Thirteen RepubliQans, Blunt(MO), Capito (WV), Collins (ME), Graham (SC), Grassley (IA), Inhofe (OK), Johnson(WI), McConnell (KY), Moran (KS), Murkowski (AK), Portman (OH), Romney (UT) and Rounds (SD) voted for both while a handful of others voted for one but not the other.
The final confirmation vote for Garland and Fudge is scheduled for Wednesday and, based on these votes, both will be approved easily.
