Everyone I’ve met so far who got the shot has been proud of it, and eager to talk about the experience of getting it, and the relief and sense of security it brought. I’ve seen and heard folks cheerfully--eagerly--volunteer that info, with the unspoken subtext—I’m not an idiot or whack job sure it will install Windows 13. I happen to be in favor of a Vaccine Passport, though an electronic one would not be much help to folks like my wife and myself, who still (only grudgingly) use an old flip phone for when we’re on the road or our land line is tied up.
Might I suggest an easy way to say I got my shot? Make the V sign, this time for Vaccine, then tap your arm with it: Vaccine in my arm. No drama, no need to show papers or your either very cheap or very expensive phone, or get a Fauci tattoo (unless you really want one). It would not get you passage into places that demand proof, but it would be a way to signal to that person you got too close to, or that worried-looking checkout person or fellow dog-walker that you are immunized. A smile and a gesture to say that you are safe to be around. At least in terms of Covid.
Like Arlo Guthrie said in ‘Alice’s Restaurant’, If enough people do it you’ve got a movement.
