Where is Churchill when the world REALLY needs him?
“Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill, (born November 30, 1874, Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire, England—died January 24, 1965, London), British statesman, orator, and author who as prime minister (1940–45, 1951–55) rallied the British people during World War II and led his country from the brink of defeat to victory.”
I have quoted, in part, from a Britannica article, (by Herbert G. Nicholas, Rhodes Professor of American History and Institutions, University of Oxford, 1969–78. Author of Britain and the U.S.A. and others), that can be found at this url:
https://www.britannica.com/biography/Winston-Churchill )
“After a sensational rise to prominence in national politics before World War I, Churchill acquired a reputation for erratic judgment in the war itself and in the decade that followed. Politically suspect in consequence, he was a lonely figure.”
However, in the 1930s, Churchill had become a regular broadcaster, concentrating on the lurking danger of Hitler’s rise to the Chancellorship, and Germany’s rearmament. But people were still not convinced that his message was important or indeed true, until Hitler’s annexations in Europe convinced Britons that his (Churchill’s) outlook was the only one that could save the Western world. He was elevated to British Prime Minister in 1940, leading a national coalition.
Practically from the time when I could pay attention, Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill has been the closest to being my lifetime’s hero.

Over the years, I have written occasional letters to the editors of various newspapers, but this was not a satisfying pursuit, since they have their own agendas and their own frequent contributors. They also limit the frequency with which one can submit letters and, if they actually accept them, they reserve the right to edit such submissions, until there is no similarity to what was originally intended.
Just a year ago, I discovered that I could submit a blog on this platform, and find an audience of (generally) like-minded, thinking, readers. Many, sincerely, have contributed constructive remarks to expand on my remarks and/or to pull me up where my vision has not been clear. I express my gratitude, especially to Daily Kos, for allowing me to vent, and also to those of you, who have read and commented on my blogs. I am a better person for the experience.
To the main subject of my “vents:”
Since that rattlesnake slid down the escalator in 2015, to announce his candidacy for the White House, I have stewed, deeply offended on a daily basis, by the slide into degeneracy of the Party of which I had been a loyal member for decades but, absolutely, no longer.
Today, July 18, marks the one year anniversary of my first submission. I poured derision on Trump’s proposed platform of “Law and Order,” following the forceful clearing of legal, peaceful protesters from Lafayette Square. The clearing was illegal and ordered by the disgraced A.G. Barr, on the say-so of the “Orange One.” I titled it:
What “Law,” Whose “Order.”
However, I am very sad to report that I, no Churchill, do not have the name or reputation, to have made important people (or enough of them) sit up and take notice of what I wrote in my second blog, “The Alt-Right Decoded.” published July 23, 2020. I would encourage you, dear reader, to revisit that diary.
(2021-07-19: This is an edit. There was a comment, asking me to add a link to that blog. Here it is:
www.dailykos.com/… and thank you for making the suggestion.)
Saying, “I said this a year ago!” gives me NO pleasure at all. I wish I had been wrong, but the news is now full of recently published books that have underlined what I said then. I was/am not brilliant; I merely learned from Churchill’s insightful observations and drew parallels which, to me, seemed obvious.
So, today, with the resurgence in so many countries of extreme right wing White Nationalists; the “HerrenVolk” (= Master Race) of 1930s Germany, and the descent into anarchy of what used to be the “Grand Old Party” of the USA. After all, approximately 150 members of Congress, sent there by Republican voters, VOTED to overturn that same election. They have betrayed their oaths to the Constitution, and should RESIGN IMMEDIATELY!
So, dear Sir Winston, who is your successor, your avatar? We REALLY need someone like you, to SAVE THE WORLD today!
